Hi Rob, my effort was to describe a technique that people can follow easily. Most of the time students get discouraged because they feel that they cannot control the mind. I just wanted to emphasize that it is not about controlling but witnessing the mind that is important. Glad you found the information of some value to you.

Brandon, In the yoga texts, OM is mentioned as the cosmic primordial sound vibration. Recitation of this sound is supposed to help you tune in to that cosmic energy which helps calm the mind down. This helps in our meditation practice. It is good to see that you have started enjoying reciting OM. Hope you can continue with your meditation every day.

I appreciate your feedback. I would love to know about other meditation techniques that you might be using in your own practice. Thanks.

I used to think saying "OM" was quite silly, and completely unnecessary in meditation. However, it is a very relaxing mantra that has been shown, at least in my practice, to be very deepening. I don't use it all the time, but when I do, the vibration I create resonates within my body at a deep level and it is as though my brainwaves slow down into a very relaxed state of mind.

Thank you for this article, because step-by-step directions are incredibly helpful. Many meditation articles are very vague at how to go about achieving a certain state, but this information will be very helpful. This type of meditation hasn't been in my daily practice like it should, as I have mainly focused on hypnosis. However, I am now going to start meditating on a daily basis.

very informative post,

It covered a great deal of information in a few words which i think is fantastic. it is too common that the language of yoga does not translate to well into english and can cause confusion for those that are truly seeking. thank you for taking the time to simpy annotate a translation for the terms as this itself is worth its weight in gold.

bless you
