Jyoti Shah

Jyoti Shah (RYT 200) is a registered yoga teacher with yoga alliance and she is a member of International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT). She has 9 years of yoga teaching experience and has been practicing for over 20 years.

She brings in a classical practice of traditional teaching of yoga, not just as a consistent movement but in a Kripalu style hatha yoga where the focus of the practice resides in the deep awareness of the Self. Her practice of yoga “on and off the mat” helps to develop mind-body-soul awareness- posture by posture and breath by breath. She is a believer of bringing stillness and ease in posture: “Sthira Sukha Asanam”. Her class begins with breath awareness, pranayama, asanas with hands-on assist and use of props brings in ease, challenge, alignment, focus, strength and flexibility. Every class ends with yoga nidra, a deep relaxation. Her teaching practice continues to bring profound benefits of yoga to emerge in to the daily life.

Jyoti’s further professional development and training in ‘Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors’ at Duke Integrative Medicine with Carol Krucoff, and ‘Relax & Renew’ restorative yoga certified trainer with Judith Hanson Lasater makes her teaching style versatile. She teaches various age groups from seniors to children with pleasure and comfort. Jyoti continues teaching small group classes for adults and teenage girls and offers private yoga therapy sessions in Cary. She teaches group wheel-chair yoga and bed yoga at various rehabilitation and nursing care facilities in the area.
