In human anatomy, a hamstring is any one of the three posterior thigh muscles in between the hip and the knee. (wikipedia)

The quadriceps (aka quads) is a large muscle group that includes the four prevailing muscles on the front of the thigh. It is the great extensor muscle of the knee, forming a large fleshy mass which covers the front and sides of the femur. The name derives from Latin four-headed muscle of the femur. (wikipedia)

These two muscle groups are often the cause for various sports injuries. Tightness of these muscles can also cause chronic pain not only in the thighs but also hips, knees or the spine . While practicing yoga, tightness of these muscles can lead to poor posture, inability to get into certain asanas, and many other issues.

In this yoga intensive, we’ll gradually build our practice to engage these two muscle groups in various asana sequences to loosen and strengthen these muscles.

I look forward to your enthusiastic participation. Please share this email with your own distribution lists. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
